Positive Parenting Coaching Programmes
Positive Parenting Coaching
Objective: To train parents and caregivers with parenting skills to prepare their children to be responsible and successful adults. Courts also mandate parents to attend positive parenting coaching to facilitate stable environments for children after divorce or separation.
The deconstruction of family values, and the imminent threat of dissolution is looming, as poverty, unemployment, substance abuse and Gender Based Violence occurrences have escalated. USAPHO feels the weight of this burden and has endeavoured to actively work alongside community members to empower and effect positive change, one household at a time, through interactive workshops facilitated at ECD’s, Churches, community, and government institutions, as well as through various referral pathways and stakeholders.
Under the guidance of the core values of the organisation, we strive to facilitate holistic growth and development using the Circle of Courage. This strength-based model focuses on the tenets that all humans need to feel a sense of Belonging, Mastery, Interdependence and Generosity to not only succeed and excel in their lives, but also that of the community, and from within one home, these skills and tools will spill out and ultimately positively affect the entire societal structure. These lessons are shared through sessions addressing Conflict Management, Listening Skills, Building Self-Esteem, and Understanding Feelings.
Parenting is no easy feat and is further compounded when done between separate households. Focusing on the best interest of the child, Usapho provides Positive Co-Parenting Coaching for divorced or separated parents to assist in formulating the best way forward, while addressing the challenges and intricacies paired with this new arrangement.

Positive Fatherhood Coaching
Objective: To train fathers with parenting skills to prepare their children to be responsible and successful adults.
65% of SA children do not consistently live with biological fathers in the same household, and disengaged fathers results in immense strain on mothers and other female caregivers. A paradigm shift is needed to appreciate not only the role of biological fathers, but social fathers – and realise emphatically and provide fathers with the support that they need.
Fatherhood refers to more than biology, but rather a male figure being present, and actively involved in children’s lives. Physically and emotionally involved fathers' matter to children- the benefits on the holistic development of children.
“I can see the benefit of the program. I have learned to take care of my child, building my self-esteem and my child’s self-esteem and confidence. I want to be a good role model.” - A father who attended the positive fatherhood coaching.
